Our mission is to supply the services needed in order to distribute free food on an every other Monday basis to low income, unemployed, single parent families, senior citizens, and others struggling to provide food for their families, in the Town of Ulysses, Tompkins County, New York State. Everyone involved in the food distributions and the emergency food program are volunteers who come from the local churches & community. Donated foods are received from drives held by various local organizations and the churches throughout the year. Monetary support comes from grants through the Tompkins County Coalition, United Way/Ulysses Community Council, CROP walks, HPNAP (Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program--State and Federally funded), from individuals, the churches and the community organizations in the Town of Ulysses, etc. We are members of the Tompkins County Food Distribution Network, in Ithaca, NY, and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier in Elmira, NY. The Food Pantry serves those in need, in the Town of Ulysses, every other Monday in the Trumansburg United Methodist Church at the corner of Main and South Streets in downtown Trumansburg. We also have an Emergency Kitchen Cupboard that has a HOTLINE telephone number (387-8260), where those who need food on an emergency basis can call for help. The Kitchen Cupboard supplies three or more days of food to help families in crises situations. Our volunteers are happy to help whenever they can, and cheerfully give their time to serve our friends and neighbors in need--privacy of your information is, of course, observed. If you have any questions about this Food Pantry, please call the hotline number and a volunteer will help you. |
